Deja vu moment: "terror" scare from a month back is back in the headlines today:
"There is nothing else going on in this country over the last several
years that is racking up the high number of violent crimes and
terrorist actions," Lewis said.
Al Qaeda? Gang violence? Drug Trafficking? Nope - animal activists are clearly public enemy number one in a sad America that's afraid to look at itself through anything but a fun-house mirror. Yes, arson and bombings are clearly bad, but you have to love the robin hood act. Calling these activists "terrorists" really only helps their deserving victims. These crimes are candy to law enforcement PR after two decades of failing to win the asinine drug war.
Marriage is the bridge to 1,138 federal rights and more than 700 New York State rights, ranging from access to Social Security benefits and the ability to make health care decisions to inheritance, immigration, and protections for children and families.
They extend a cordial invitation one and all to join the march at 11am on Sunday, May 22nd. The crowd will gather at Thomas Paine Park and march across the Brooklyn Bridge to Cadmen Plaza. Liberal hero Jason West will be on hand, as will all the requisite homo music. (don't see any lesbian drummer listed though)
...personal credit cards were stolen from a family car and used by ALF to
buy $20,000 in traveler's checks that were sent to a number of
Felonies are bad, but playing modern-day robin hood rocks. The ALF stole the credit cards from an executive of Forest Laboratories, Inc., an obvious villain with animal testing ties. Alf said the activism was intended to force Forest to sever ties with Huntingdon Life Sciences, a company PETA successfully nailed on 23 counts of violating the Animal Welfare Act through an undercover action. I prefer PETA's tact of working inside and outside the system - teaching the government how to do its job and/or doing it for them gives the animal rights movement more legitimacy than this "terrorism" stuff, even if it takes longer, but this petty felony is poetic beauty.
A recent internal Homeland Security
document lists the Animal Liberation Front and the Earth Liberation
Front with a few Islamic groups that could potentially support al-Qaida
as domestic terror threats.
I'm feeling safe indeed - Homeland Security is all over the war on terror - earning every penny I pay them. It's obvious to me that the next massive terror attack is going to come from a vegan tree hugger. Vegans are an especially violent group...
ALF and ELF are accused by the FBI
of committing hundreds of acts of arson or other attacks on property in
the United States, causing millions of dollars in damages. None of
their attacks, however, have caused human deaths. (I added links to the ALF & ELF websites - funny that the "liberal" media chose to link only to the FBI.)
Oh, yeah, that's right, vegans & animal rights activists aren't violent. I think they might be upset about violent treatment of animal. Yes, yes, that's the whole point of their efforts. The ELF caused millions in damages to a rich Colorado ski resort - and put a lot of people in potential danger, but again, they aren't out to hurt people, but corporations. The logic of both groups is to attack corporations where feel pain - causing expensive damage. Extend the logic, and the hope is that corporations will shy away from exploiting animals or the environment because of this additional financial risk. I would rather see activism stick to tried and true nonviolence, but I can appreciate the impatience that might compromise one's better judgment.
The document does not address threats
posed by white supremacists, violent militiamen, anti-abortion bombers
and other extremists that Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (news, bio, voting record), D-Miss., called "right-wing hate groups."
Yes, stay away from those groups that have histories of actual violence. Past violent behavior couldn't possibly indicate future violence. Really, is homeland security a dozen monkeys in cubicles eating donuts? I get the funny feeling this incompetence is calculated and contrived. So much for that safe feeling...
